The reason for the Monk to take the Mobile feat is not the extra movement, but rather to not provoke opportunity attacks from any creature that you have attacked, hit or not. The monk is an amazing class to play with in any Dungeons and Dragons campaign. You are going to need some DnD knowledge and experience to make sure you do not die in the mid-game. It is pretty hard to make a monk that stays relevant and is able to go to the frontlines without being in mortal danger all the time.
Absolutely - one of my favorite classes. Without the Monk D&D would lack the concept of a combatant who prefers to use their bare hands and martial arts to do battle. Add on the other cool features Monks get and they feel like a very different and specialized class.
